It is a great way to get acclimatized for those eyeing peaks at 7,000 and 8,000 meters. Located just 45 kilometers from Skardu City, the base camp is easily accessible, with a 4-5-hour trek from Sildi Village. Offering breathtaking views of Spantik, Nanga Parbat, and other peaks above 5,000 meters, this challenging climb is ready to be remembered.

Location:

Kosar Gang Peak is located in the Shigar Valley of Baltistan, Pakistan. The valley is remote and beautiful, home to several other high peaks, including K2, Nanga Parbat, and Masherbrum.

Weather:

The weather in the Shigar Valley is generally mild in the summer, with temperatures ranging from 15 to 25 degrees Celsius. However, the weather can be unpredictable, and it is important to be prepared for rain, snow, and high winds.

Ice Pumpkin of Karakoram:

In the local Balti language, Kosar Gang translates to “Ice Pumpkin,” a fitting name for this majestic peak. It stands proudly at 6401 meters and is an ideal training ground for those embarking on their first high-altitude mountaineering adventure in the Karakoram. The journey includes traversing ice mixed with scattered rocks, presenting intermediate-level challenges. The best time to embark on this expedition is from July to August, extending until mid-September, depending on weather conditions.

Day 01: Arrival in Islamabad

  • Altitude: 700 meters
  • Accommodation: Hotel
  • Arrive in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. You’ll be transferred to your hotel. Depending on group preferences and flight schedules, some participants may fly to Skardu on the same day directly from Islamabad Airport.

Day 02: Fly to Skardu, acclimatization and paperwork and final arrangements.

  • Altitude: 1300 to 1500 meters
  • Accommodation: Hotel
  • Today, you’ll fly to Skardu, a hub for adventurers heading to Karakoram. You’ll check into your hotel and acclimatize to the higher altitude.

Day 03: Skardu to Sildi or Kashmal Village and Trekking to Base Camp

  • Altitude: 3500 meters
  • Accommodation: Camping
  • Begin your journey towards Kosar Gang Peak. You’ll embark on a 2-hour jeep drive to Sildi or Kashmal village, followed by a 3 to 4-hour trek to reach your base camp, situated at 3500 meters. Your adventure officially kicks off here.

Days 04 to 06: Climbing Kosar Gang Peak

  • Accommodation: Climbing
  • These consecutive days are dedicated to climbing Khosar Gang Peak, a thrilling ascent to 6401 meters. You’ll face challenges, scale heights, and experience the beauty of Karakoram under the guidance of our expert team.

Day 07: Return to Skardu

  • Altitude: 1500 meters
  • Accommodation: Hotel
  • After the successful climb, you’ll return to Skardu and spend the night in a comfortable hotel, celebrating your achievements.

Day 8: Fly to Islamabad

  • Altitude: 700 meters
  • Accommodation: Hotel
  • Take a flight from Skardu to Islamabad, where you’ll check into a hotel for a well-deserved rest before your journey home.

Day 9: Reserve Day or Relax in Islamabad

  • Altitude: 700 meters
  • Accommodation: Hotel
  • This day is a reserve day, offering flexibility for any road travel requirements. You can also explore Islamabad or relax in the city.

Day 10: Flight Back Home

  • Altitude: Varies
  • Accommodation: None
